There are over 1,600 students at Florida International University (FIU) who identify as active duty, veteran, reservist, or National Guard members. These students are in every program and bring significant life experiences and diversity to the FIU community. Green Zone Training provides faculty and staff with an understanding of student veterans as they transition from the military to campus life.

During this Green Zone Training, participants will learn about:

•       A basic understanding of what it means to be a student veteran at FIU 
•       Military cultural competencies
•       Services and resources provided by the Office of Veteran and Military Affairs
•       Common myths/stigmas surrounding student veterans
•       Off-campus resources and support services
•       Issues and concerns faced by student veterans and military affiliated students
•       Lending an empathetic ear and help our student veterans and military-affiliated students connect with the appropriate resources
