Full course description
University Search and Screen Training (USS) prepares faculty search committee members and other participants to effectively carry out their responsibilities throughout the faculty hiring process. The training provides a practical understanding of the legal, policy, and procedural requirements that govern faculty searches and emphasizes the University's commitment to fair and consistent hiring practices.
Participants will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct searches in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and University policies, including requirements related to equal opportunity, affirmative action for individuals with disabilities and protected veterans, and nondiscrimination. The training addresses key stages of the search process, including developing effective job advertisements, promoting positions, reviewing and evaluating applications, conducting interviews, documenting the search process, and making hiring recommendations.
This course is made up of five (5) modules, each consisting of a video (5-8mins each) followed by a short review quiz. Set aside 40-50mins to complete the course entirely.
By the end of the training, participants will be better prepared to conduct faculty searches that are fair, consistent, well-documented, and aligned with University requirements, while supporting the recruitment and selection of highly qualified faculty who meet the academic and institutional needs of the University.
