The Federal Trade Comission through the The Fair Credit Reporting Act, established the Red Flags Rule. The rule mandates that FIU establish an identity theft prevention program. FIU's identity theft prevention program requires that training be provided to FIU faculty and staff in order to increase the awareness of identity theft red flags and the prevention of identity theft.
