This online training serves as a resource to establish Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) foundational knowledge. The privacy and security requirements relating to Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”) in student records maintained by Florida International University (“FIU”) are discussed. This course addresses FERPA basics, explores requirements for the protection of student records, access to student records, exceptions, FIU Directory Information and how it may be shared and more.
