Full course description
Search and Screen training is designed to prepare participants to effectively fulfill their responsibilities on faculty search committees by providing them with a comprehensive understanding of the faculty hiring process. Through the training, participants will acquire the skills necessary to navigate the legal and ethical considerations of conducting a search, as well as promote equal opportunity, affirmative action for individuals with disabilities, and veterans in the hiring process. They will also gain knowledge on how to create an effective job description, promote the position, review and assess applications, conduct interviews, and make a hiring decision. By the end of the training, participants will be equipped with the necessary skills to attract and retain a robust and well-rounded faculty that aligns with the needs of the community, promoting fair hiring practices and contributing to a vibrant academic community.
